How many calories does padel burn?
An hour of padel burns about 380 extra calories at 75 kg (165 lb), and about 300 at 60 kg (132 lb) or 450 at 90 kg (198 lb). That's for a typical social game; fast, competitive rallies burn more.

Where the number comes from
Scientists measure activities in METs: how many times your resting burn an activity takes. The 2024 Compendium of Physical Activities, the standard reference, has no entry for padel yet, so Deficitly uses its value for casual paddleball, 6 METs. That puts padel between doubles and singles tennis, which matches how it feels: smaller court, more walls, more rallies than tennis doubles.
Is padel good for losing weight?
Two 90-minute games a week add about 160 calories a day on average at 75 kg (165 lb). On its own that's about 0.6 kg (1.4 lb) a month if you eat the same. Helpful, but food still decides most of it: see how many calories to eat to lose weight.
Watch numbers after padel
Sports watches often show 600–900 calories for a padel session. They count the calories you'd burn anyway and tend to overestimate on stop-and-go sports. If you eat back what your watch says, weight loss can stall.
